Catch-up session, get out the tissues!

The holiday season brings its share of Christmas advertisements, inspired, funny, touching, squeaky, there’s something for everyone. You can discover the first campaigns as early as October (it’s a well-known fact: there are more seasons, soon we’ll be skiing in July!) Every year, we echo this on the Réclame, and even if our alert eye scans the Internets in search of the most original content to share with you, some Christmas ads have eluded us. Here’s a little catch-up session.

1. BOOMERS REINVENT TINDER – HOBBY LOBBY

« Christmas Is What You Make It » is the feel good campaign that smells like a Christmas movie. Two young neighbors who do not know each other find a small present in their mailbox when they return home, each thinking it is the other. Nay, their neighbors across the street have taken it upon themselves to play cupid. With good reason. For a sign of decoration and interior craftsmanship. Well done!

2. NEED OF NOTHING, WANT OF NOTHING – CULTURA

– What do you want for Christmas ?
– Oh, me, nothing you know !
Every year, millions of people answer « Nothing » when asked what they want for Christmas, observes the freestanding sign. A non-wisher who depresses Santa Claus, who is determined to give up his stain if no one orders anything from him anymore. Luckily, Cultura has a solution even for people who don’t want to be in the business « Nothing ». By St John’s Agency.

3. A STAR IS BORN — « TAKE CARE » — DOCMORRIS

If Twitter were a gauge, this ad for a pharmaceutical company would probably be THE star of the Christmas commercials. Seen nearly 9 million times (on YouTube) since it was put online, « Take Care » follows the an old man’s morning routine who seems depressed until an idea emerges in him and sees him try to lift a weight, a remnant of his past sporting exploits. His entourage and his neighbor are intrigued by such an undertaking, until the final, poignant outcome. An inspired advertisement.

4. SO « VERY » BRITISH

An end of year without English Christmas advertising does not have the same flavor. In the pure so British style, the British online retailer Very delivers a little jelly to enjoy with the family next to a tree that is much too big.

5. SYSTÈME U — THE GOLDFISH

It’s the story of a little lost goldfish… if Nemo (he was a clown fish, we remind you) has nothing to do with the Christmas campaign of Magasins U realized by the agency TBWA\Paris, the epic is no less grandiose to succeed in bringing this little golden carassin back to port.

6. SANTA CLAUS’S TRUCK – COCA-COLA

This year, the Coca-Cola truck remained in the garage instead of starting its traditional national tour, pandemic obliges. But the brand made it the hero of its Christmas campaign by bringing a father back to his family just in time to celebrate Christmas. Pure sugar.

7. MCDONALD’S

This year, McDonald’s intends to awaken the child that lies dormant in each of us and that we tend to leave behind when we grow up. A nice Christmas tale.

8. AND 9. AUCHAN – THE CONSOLE – THE EGG

In this year of deprivation, Auchan unveils not one, but two films for its 2020 Christmas campaign. Conceived by the Lille agency Orès and directed by Vianney Lebasque, they showcase these little everyday gifts that are hidden in the most benign gestures of our loved ones. From this grandfather who is initiating himself to video games to find his granddaughter in an online game, to this father who seems to discover a passion for eggs until his son discovers the soundproof room he has designed to accommodate his new battery. The sign illustrates his slogan « It’s always the people who make the difference ».

10. RESPECT – TK MAXX -THE LIL’ GOAT

Parce que nous le méritons tous !
